With a pair of parentheses and one little letter “e,” the pie lovers stole something from the mathematicians: Pi Day.
And so it was that CurvyMama–and many other pie makers and pie lovers across the country–celebrated National Pi(e) Day on March 14. We were lucky enough to be invited to a unique celebration that combined the Power of Pie with raising money for a good local cause.
My cyber friend Emily Hilliard, who writes the pie blog Nothing-In-The-House, organized a benefit for Common Good City Farm here in D.C. She persuaded a bunch of pie makers to bake sweet and savory delights for this benefit, and she spread the word on Facebook and elsewhere. CurvyMama turned up with an Aztec Chocolate Chess Pie.
More than 100 pie-loving do-gooders turned up for an evening of music and pie sampling. And Emily’s good works raised more than $900 for Common Go0d, which helps lower-income folks learn about–and grow–nourishing food. Kudos to Emily, and thank you for including CurvyMama Pies in the mix.
Here are some photos to give you a feel for the event. More than 25 pies were deposited lovingly on the tables, but I might have lost the ability to compose an accurate count, since the glucose was already flowing generously through my veins by the time I took inventory.
What a treat it was to nibble pie and listen to good R&B on National Pi(e) Day, in honor of Common Good City Farm. Good memories and good karma all around.
LOVE Everything about this!! Kudos ~
